Out of all the nu metal resurgence bands popping up over the last few years, this one lands as arguably more unexpected: Skrape. Yes, the band many still associate with the infected toenail artwork from their 2001 debut New Killer America appears to be stirring again after more than two decades of silence. Some remember spinning tracks like “What You Say” and “Waste” on repeat back in the day, while others probably can’t unsee that infamous album cover. After releasing their sophomore effort Up the Dose in 2004, the group quietly disappeared, with members moving on to projects connected to Evanescence, Dark New Day, Audiotopsy, and beyond. Now, suddenly, Skrape have reemerged online, leaving fans wondering what exactly this return could lead to: new material, remixes, or simply a nostalgic revival?

The long-defunct outfit have relaunched their presence through fresh Instagram and Facebook accounts alongside a new website, hinting at renewed activity. For now, details remain scarce, but the band’s digital return alone has been enough to spark curiosity about what comes next. And yes, their latest post involves the infamous infected toenail. Something is happening, likely a 25th anniversary of their 2021 debut record. Long-live that infected toenail.
