Brazilian thrashers The Mist are preparing to release The Dark Side of the Soul (An Anatomy of the Soul), their long-awaited first full-length in 30 years, set to arrive on November 7th via Moonspell’s Fernando Ribeiro’s label Alma Mater Records. The band has teamed up with Metal Insider to premiere a video for the album’s first single, “Brain – Geppetto’s Song.”

A similar take on Dr. Frankenstein and his monster, the track explores the classic struggle between creator and creation, reimagining Pinocchio as an outsider who rejects conformity and embraces chaos rather than pursuing society’s version of happiness. Lyrically, “Brain” serves as the willpower cut in the album’s conceptual second section, The Anatomy of the Soul, where each song is tied to a human organ as a metaphor for the soul’s dialogue with the body.

Directed by Leandro Miranda, written by Vladimir Korg, the video brings The Mist and the circus artists of Casa Circo Gamarra to life, sharing the story of Pinocchio’s transformation into a human being. Produced by Alma Mater Records and mixed/mastered by Tue Madsen, the album marks the overall return for the Mist since 1995’s Gottverlassen.
