Billboard reports founding Hatebreed bassist Chris Beattie has filed a lawsuit against the band and frontman Jamey Jasta, claiming he was abruptly and unfairly ousted from the group in November 2024 after a 30-year tenure. Filed in Connecticut Superior Court, the suit accuses Jasta of erratic behavior and financial secrecy, asserting Beattie was a co-owner and key contributor to the band’s sound, management, and revenue.
Beattie alleges he was denied financial transparency and underpaid on merchandise sales, despite a prior agreement entitling him to 25% of revenues. He also refutes a harassment allegation used to justify his removal and claims Hatebreed continues to use his image and likeness for merchandise and promotion. The lawsuit seeks compensatory and emotional distress damages, citing lost income, touring profits, and brand deals.
