Till Lindemann, the one of a kind frontman for German industrial metal legends Rammstein officially kicked off the October spooky season by playing an unforgettable performance at the Rooftop at Pier 17 in Manhattan. Along for the twisted ride was Twin Temple and Aesthetic Perfection.
To kick off the night, synth-pop goths Aesthetic Perfection got the party started with a wildly energetic performance. Playing seven fan favorites, this three piece was a true crowd pleaser. Frontman Daniel Graves was rocking the joker makeup and Marilyn Manson-esque contact lenses with vocals recalling back to the Wayne Static of Static-X days and music similar to industrial rockers Stabbing Westward.

Twin Temple was the next to take the stage. Think 1950’s doo wop mixed with a dark, evil, yet fun theme and you’ve got Twin Temple. A satanic Amy Winehouse if you will. A very interesting combo that works seamlessly together. Husband and wife duo, Zachary and Alexandra James, put on a sexy, stylish, sassy, unique performance that is definitely worth succumbing to.

By the time Till Lindemann took to the stage, the stunning rooftop venue was packed and fans were ready for the unexpected that Rammstein always delivers… And Till and his solo crew (including former bassist of Nine Inch Nails and A Perfect Circle, Danny Lohner) did not disappoint. It was a leather clad sea of red on stage including Till’s red face paint mimicking blood. This 18 and over show is the kind where you just gotta see it to believe it. Just be prepared for a slew of wild surprises (both on and off the stage), a giant screen displaying R and X-rated music videos and of course lots of German vocals. This show undoubtedly is for people with an open mind, good sense of humor and a lover of heavy music. If you fit that criteria, it’s a not to be missed epic spectacle for both your eyes and your ears.
Till Lindemann’s first solo North American tour ends on Oct 17th in LA and then heads to Knotfest Brazil on the 20th. Who knows if this tour will make its way back to the states again. So if you are a fan of Till’s music, I suggest you grab a ticket while you still can. I’m sure his solo show will be a great conversation piece for years to come.
