Swedish viking metal legends Amon Amarth have shared a new music video and four-track digital single for “Heidrun.” The track is initially taken from their 2022’s The Great Heathen Army. The digital single includes a newly remixed version, two live bonus tracks, and a “goat remix” version featuring actual goat vocals.
While the goat was unable to comment on his contribution to the remix, vocalist Johan Hegg expressed the following behind the song’s meaning:
“Heidrun is an interesting mythological character, it’s a goat that stands on the roof of Valhalla eating the leaf of the big tree Lärad. The milk that she gives is the honey/mead that the warriors in Valhalla drink each night. The lyrics themselves are both about Vikings traveling the world but also metaphorically what it is to be a touring musician.”
