Regardless of your fan status of the Netflix series Stranger Things, Friday’s (1st) season finale of season four is a must-see. The finale featured the Eddie Munson character having to shred Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” on his Warlock guitar in the alternate universe known as the “Upside Down” to demolish this season’s nemesis, the demon named Vecna. The scene has been the talk of the weekend, and now, the classic Metallica song landed at No. 26 on Spotify’s Top 50 Global Chart. Bassist Robert Trujillo also revealed on his Instagram that his seventeen-year-old son, Tye, contributed to some of the tracks, stating:
“**Spoiler Alert** That’s my boy! Proud of ya Tye!
Stranger Things finale shredding it on “Master of Puppets” and big thanks to @kirkhammett on helping! @tyetru @metallica @strangerthingstv #metallica #masterofpuppets #strangerthings #eddiemunson”
Today (5th), Metallica issued a statement expressing how it’s an “incredible honor” having their music being featured in such an impactful scene:
“The way The Duffer Brothers have incorporated music into Stranger Things has always been next level, so we were beyond psyched for them to not only include “Master of Puppets” in the show, but to have such a pivotal scene built around it. We were all stoked to see the final result and when we did we were totally blown away… it’s so extremely well done, so much so, that some folks were able to guess the song just by seeing a few seconds of Joseph Quinn’s hands in the trailer!! How crazy cool is that?
It’s an incredible honor to be such a big part of Eddie’s journey and to once again be keeping company with all of the other amazing artists featured in the show.”
All four seasons of Stranger Things are available on Netflix. There’s no official release date for season five. However, it’s expected to arrive sometime in 2024.
