Well, actually we do care since it features such a cool lineup. But WHOCARES is the title that Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi and Deep Purple singer Ian Gillan’s new charity group is going under. The two have reunited to record two songs to benefit those still affected by the Leninakan earthquake that struck Armenia in 1988. For the song “Out Of My Mind,” Iommi and Gillan recruited a hefty lineup of musicians to play, including Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain, ex-Metallica bassist Jason Newsted, ex-Deep Purple keyboardist Jon Lord, and HIM guitarist Mikko “Linde” Lindström (also Iommi’s son in-law).
The video for “Out Of My Mind,” which includes footage of each musician recording their parts and playing with each other, can be seen up top. The two song EP will be released as a CD on June 27 through Eagle Rock Entertainment, while the digital version will be available this Friday (May 6). You can check out the recording lineups for each song (including “Holy Water”) after the jump.
