After months and rumors and “no comments,” Slash confirmed that though Velvet Revolver and Taylor did test out the waters together, Taylor is not their new singer. But in case you weren’t convinced, Taylor himself has come out to say that he is not Scott Weiland’s replacements.

In an interview with BackstageAxxess.com on the Revolver Golden God’s Black Carpet event earlier this month, Taylor said the following in response to becoming VR’s new singer:

“It wasn’t in the cards, and that’s cool. I made some great friends; obviously, I’m jamming with Duff tonight. It was just cool to kind of get together with them and jam, man. But it’s all good.”

You can watch the entire interview with Taylor (and fellow Slipknot member Shawn “Clown” Crahan) up top, while video of Taylor performing Judas Priest’s “Electric Eye” with Duff McKagan’s Loaded that night at the award show can be seen after the jump.

It appeared that everyone but Slash in the band was ecstatic about Taylor, even recording demos with him. However, since the rumors started to spread regarding Taylor’s involvement, the less likely it became. Plus, Duff didn’t seem confident in recent interviews that Velvet Revolver would be coming out of its hiatus any time soon. Now that Taylor is definitely not the new singer in Velvet Revolver, maybe he’ll now try to keep his job in Slipknot? If so, he might want to talk to Joey Jordison soon.
