Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Dan Cadera’s solo project Slashdance as he’s been spending this time learning how to edit video.

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?

Dropping an album! It started long before Quarantine, it just happened that by the time it was ready to release everything stopped. Somewhere in between I picked up a camera and leveled up my video editing pretty quick which is super helpful doing video stuff for Slashdance.

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

Yeah! Mostly on Youtube, there’s always someone keeping track of new Industrial Metal/Rock releases every month. The older I get the less time I have to keep up so they are super helpful.  Also always discovering new old hidden gems, weird goth releases I didn’t know existed.

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?

Does Skip The Dishes Count? I’m not sure of a food prep person, I have patience for a lot of things but I guess that isn’t one of them.

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?

I’m on my 5th straight Yakuza game. I don’t know where they’ve been all my life or how I missed them. They are basically super funny games mixed with a Tokyo simulator. I’ve been to Japan a few times and it recreates it so accurately it helps with the fact I can’t travel…or makes it hurt worse.

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?

If you can take this time to learn a new skill or get around to a project you were always meaning to do, you should totally go for it! If you just need to do nothing and ride out the storm no one’s going to call you on that either. It’s totally uncharted territory, whatever you gotta do to get through this is cool.
