With nearly every concert event being cancelled or postponed, for the time being, this gives groups a chance to record new music. Perhaps 2021 will be an incredibly busy year of new tunes. With that being said, it appears Tool drummer Danny Carey would love to work on a follow up to 2019’s Fear Inoculum by working on an EP during the time of quarantine. During a recent Berklee Bass Webinar, Carey expressed the following:
“I’m hoping, during this downtime, as soon as we’re able, maybe we’ll get together – Justin [Chancellor] and I, and Adam [Jones] maybe start hashing out some new Tool stuff in the meantime, maybe write another EP since we’re down and we can’t do anything else. I’m just kind of waiting on that, you know, waiting around but that’s all I’ve really got going on, you know?”
While it did take the band thirteen years to release a new record, it makes us wonder if it’s possible to hear anything new from them even during a time of isolation. However, their tour was recently postponed, and they supposedly already have enough material for a new album. Therefore, it’s only a matter of time to see if we would surprisingly hear new music from them or create new Tool memes.
