What do Melvins, High on Fire and Queens of the Stone Age have in common? They were all affected by the devastating 6.3 magnitude earthquake in Christchurch, one of the biggest cities in New Zealand. According to the New Zealand Herald, a manager for The Melvins or High on Fire said the bands were “one minute into checking in for [their] flight to Wellington when the earthquake struck.”While none of them were injured, they weren’t able to get a flight out, since all domestic flights are cancelled. In a hot tip for Metal Insider‘s Christchurch readers, the bands are staying the night in the Christchurch airport. Their Wellington show hasn’t been cancelled yet. Queens of the Stone Age, on the other hand, were forced to cancel their show at Wellington’s Town Hall tonight after finding themselves stranded at Auckland airport. It will take place tomorrow night. Their Thursday show in Christchurch, on the other hand, has been cancelled. The quake has killed at least 65 so far.
