Gary Moore, acclaimed guitarist and former member of Thin Lizzy, has passed away. Current Thin Lizzy Manager Adam Parsons confirmed to BBC News that Moore’s body was found in the early hours of February 6 while in Costa del Sol, Spain on holiday. A postmortem will be carried out soon to determine the cause of death. Moore was 58 years old.
Though the Northern Irishman might be best known for his various stints Thin Lizzy (including his work on 1979’s Black Rose: A Rock Legend), Moore had a success solo career as a blues/hard rock guitarist. He previously shared the stage with greats like BB King and George Harrison, while has also been cited as influences on guitarists like Vivian Campbell (Def Leppard, Thin Lizzy), Randy Rhoads, Kirk Hammett and many more. In addition, Moore got his first start in the late 60’s rock group Skid Row (not to be confused with the Sebastian Bach fronted group) with the late Thin Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott. Our condolences go out to Moore’s family and friends.
