Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, the film about the infamous serial killer Ted Bundy (played by Zac Efron) will premiere on Netflix and in select theaters this Friday (3rd). While the movie circles around the perspective of his longtime girlfriend Liz Kloepfer (played by Lily Collins), it also marks Metallica’s James Hetfield’s acting debut as he plays the role of officer Bob Hayward. Of course, this isn’t Hetfield’s first role in a film as we’ve seen him team up with director Joe Berlinger before to portray himself in 2004’s Metallica: Some Kind of Monster. However, this is his overall dramatic role debut as he portrays the patrolman who arrested Bundy for the first time in 1975 after pulling him over and suspected he was up to something more than just driving through a stop sign.

Efron was recently interviewed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! as he discussed the importance of Hetfield’s role and how he “nailed the part.”

Efron explained:

“He comes on the set, and it’s one of the more pivotal moments. It’s the moment that Ted actually got caught for the first time — he ran a stop sign. And James Hetfield plays the policeman that picks him up. And James Hetfield, to his credit, and absolutely nailed the part, he just crushed it. It’s like he’s been acting his own life. He had no fear. He did a great job. I was ready to maybe give James Hetfield [an acting] tip, but he didn’t ask for a single one. James Hetfield is the shit!”

Efron later expressed how being pulled over by James Hetfield was “like a dream come true.”
