Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.
I haven’t listened to much of Stone Temple Pilots, but man this band has been through a lot. A band moving forward following the death of a frontman is a sad yet familiar story, but not every band has lost two singers in the span of four years. Stone Temple Pilots have that unfortunate distinction: Scott Weiland died in 2015, two years after being fired from the band, and Chester Bennington, who performed and recorded an EP with the band, died just last year. While neither of the singers were actually in the band the time of their deaths, it’s tragic knowing that Weiland never got to reconcile with the STP or that Bennington never got to record a full album with the band. Still, the band is here with a new singer and their first album since 2010. It’s in the top 10, so it looks like these guys aren’t slowing down. In other news, Metallica are #1 again.
