Metal Insider caught up with Anthrax vocalist Joey Belladonna and drummer Charlie Benante at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia last week. Anthrax, currently in the midst of the “Killthrax” tour, which also features Killswitch Engage, has had a productive 2016-2017, of which the guys talk up in this interview. The expanded re-release of 2015’s For All Kings is a topic of discussion, as is the brand new line of Anthrax craft beer – we get Charlie’s take on “branding” a band in 2017 as opposed to Anthrax’s heyday. Joey offers up his thoughts on the band’s seemingly newfound openness to his vocal contributions since he’s been back in the fold, as well as his ease of fitting back into the band this second time around. Anthrax, fresh from recording an acoustic session for Rolling Stone Magazine before rolling into Philly, seems like they’re having a blast of late. Charlie and Joey convey their thoughts on how the live stage suits them these days, and how experiences like said acoustic session add to the fun.
