Just the mention of the name CKY will probably bring you back to a simpler place, to the days of MTV after they stopped playing actual music videos, but before reality shows like The Hills and Jersey Shore that had no actual basis in reality. The Westchester, PA based group was more or less the house band of Jackass, mainly because the band, which features drummer Jess Margera, provided a lot of music for his brother Bam’s skate videos. CKY released four albums, the most recent being 2009’s Carver City, before singer Deron Miller left the band in 2011.
Now, CKY have returned, signing to eOne with a still-untitled album due this Summer. Guitarist Chad I Ginsburg is taking over vocal duties, and the band will now be a trio. Fans will have a chance to see them this Summer on the Warped Tour. Here’s what Ginsburg says in a press release about the signing:
“We are thrilled to be working with one of the most progressive record labels in the music business today,” adds vocalist Chad I Ginsburg. ”CKY are looking forward to a long partnership in great music for the entire world with eOne!”
“We’re grown adults now with an eagle-eye perspective on who we are, what we do, and how to do it right,” Ginsburg declares, with matter-of-fact certainty. “None of us are out there in the clouds. We’re pretty well-grounded people that have an honest perspective on where we’re at.”
