If you were to think of what a band that included members of Soilwork and Arch Enemy would sound like, Night Flight Orchestra isn’t the band that you’d probably envision. Featuring Soilwork’s Bjorn “Speed” Strid on vocals, the band’s got a full-on ’70s and ’80s hard rock worship thing going on. It’s commercial and super hooky hard rock. Now signed to Nuclear Blast, the band’s third album, Amber Galactic, will be released on May 19th via Nuclear Blast, and today Metal Sucks premiered “Midnight Flyer” from the album. More Whitesnake than Whitechapel, it should be interesting to see if this project takes off (no pun intended) with the support of a US label. Here’s what Strid says about the song:
“‘Midnight Flyer’ might be the ultimate The Night Flight Orchestra track, and all the emotions that we think a classic rock track should convey are there. When you find yourself on a night flight across the oceans, you’ve just left everything you love behind and once you land you know that nothing will ever be the same. You’ve got nothing left to lose, and you just want to escape reality, no matter the cost. A melancholic over the top party anthem, about the deep personal insights you can only get at 36,000 ft. with a stiff drink in your trembling hands, and the mysterious beauty that you hope will be there waiting for you when you arrive.”
Amber Galactic will be out on May 19th on Nuclear Blast and can be preordered here.
