Over a month ago, Dave Mustaine hinted to Billboard about Megadeth booking two tours for 2017, with the interesting news that they’d be an opener later in the years, stating:
“They’re both going to be very different, but exciting. One we’re headlining, and it’s very much bands of our ilk, and for the other one, we’re in a support position for the first time in years. It’s a band that I’m a huge fan of. We’re really excited to see what these different dates are going to be like and have fans see us in different capacities. The headlining dates will be these diehard fans, and the others where we’re going to be out with this band we’re supporting, and their fans are going to hear us and won’t know us from the man on the moon.”
While we already heard about the Meshuggah, TesseracT, and Lillake rumor for this summer, it seems some news of the second tour is starting to surface. Thanks to 931jackfm, Megadeth are the “special guests” for the Crazy World Tour. It’s odd to hear Megadeth as openers, but who would they open for? The are teaming up with Scorpions, playing at the Forum in Inglewood, California on Saturday October 7th.
Tickets go on sale this Friday (24th) at 10am. Presale starts on Thursday from 10am-10PM and the password is: CRAZY.
That’s exactly what this is – crazy! And hopefully, more dates will be added to this incredible pairing.
UPDATE: While this event seems legit, it looks like the original Facebook listing was removed. Secondly, this tour date doesn’t exist on Scorpions nor Megadeth’s account. We can only assume this means more dates are in development.
