Life of Agony were a bit ahead of their time. The Brooklyn band’s debut album, 1993’s River Runs Red, was a hardcore classic. They put out two more albums that found them getting more commercial, then broke up in 1999, two years after vocalist Keith Caputo left. They reunited for an album in 2005, then split again in 2012. They reunited for a third time in 2014, with Keith Caputo now Mina Caputo, and many wondered what the band would sound like now that they essentially have a new singer (Caputo came out as transdgender in 2011).
Today via Bilboard, we got the answer via the title track of their first album in 12 years. “A Place Where There’s No Pain” is heavier than anything they’ve put out in a few albums, and Caputo’s voice hasn’t changed at all – it’s still powerful, commanding and melodic. It’s great to hear such a strong comeback, and we’re psyched for the rest of the album, which will be out on April 28th on Napalm Records.
