While we wouldn’t have necessarily thought it when it started, Late Night With Seth Meyers is quietly becoming the most metal-friendly place on network TV. Anthrax performed on the show earlier this year, and with band leader and drummer Fred Armisen spending time away from the show, it’s not unusual for the show to have guest drummers. Mastodon’s Brann Dailor has sat in, as has Tool’s Danny Carey. Another high profile drummer will be lending his skills to the Late Night band next week, starting on December 12th – Dave Lombardo. The current Suicidal Tendencies and former Slayer drummer will be there through Thursday, December 15th, but he won’t be the only one with a metal heritage there that day.
Yesterday, Megadeth announced that next Thursday, they’ll be performing on the show. It’ll be a reunion of sorts for the band with Lombardo, as they toured with Suicidal Tendencies earlier this year. It’s not certain what song they’ll be playing, but it’s a great way to cap off the year for the band, who’s Dystopia is currently the 86th biggest-selling album of the year.
