Last week, Rhino released A Decade Of Dio 1983-1993 as a 6 CD and vinyl box set. Already with a celebrated career courtesy of Elf, Rainbow and Black Sabbath, when Ronnie James Dio released Holy Diver in 1983, he got to a whole new level in his career with the band that bore his name. His first six solo albums found him embracing the mysticism and equal parts dark and light lyrics, and with celebrated musicians like Vivian Campbell and Vinnie Appice backing him up. The title tracks of Holy Diver and The Last In Line are classics, as are “Rainbow in the Dark,” “Rock ‘N’ Roll Children” and “I Could Have Been a Dreamer.” In all, the man’s legacy looms larger than ever even six years after his untimely death, and many of the tracks on this box are 1980’s metal classics.
And we’re giving away a copy of the box set. Simply fill out the form below, listing your contact info you’ll be entered to win. We’ll pick a winner at random on Friday, 8/12. Sorry, this contest is open to U.S. residents only.
