Good news for all of those who are down with the clown. The 17th annual incarnation of Insane Clown Posse’s Gathering of the Juggalos will be taking place from July 20-23 at Legend Valley in Thornville, OH. Hopefully unlike previous years, there won’t be any fan deaths. Today the festival unveiled a 26-minute infomercial not unlike previous years’ versions, which have been both iconic and goofy enough to be parodied on Saturday Night Live. The thing is, the infomercials are so ridiculous that the SNL parodies aren’t all that different. This year’s is similar, set up like a fake talk show/informercial. If you think people with fake names like “queefer” and “meatwash” are funny, then this’ll be right up your alley. However, if you’re attending, you probably want to know who’s playing, and this year, there’s more than a little metal.
Of course, Insane Clown Posse will be headlining, which is a given. However, GWAR, Suicide Silence, Attila, Green Jelly, Hed (p.e), Asking Alexandria, Kissing Candice and Emmure are among the bands playing this year. It seems like they’re upping the ante on heavy music this year. And even though a solid amount of it is scene-y, some of the bands like Suicide Silence and GWAR are a little more legitimate. If you’re interested in attending this year, you can go to the website for more information. And R.I.P. Ass Dan.
