BlackCrownInitiate_SWCF_CoverWe’ve been fans of Pennsylvania’s Black Crown Initiate since before they had a label. Their subsequent signing to eOne and debut full length The Wreckage of Stars was a promising debut, and we got to see them play live at our 2014 CMJ showcase along with another new band, Toothgrinder.

Now the band will be returning with their sophomore album, Selves We Cannot Forgive, on July 22nd. The band released “Red Cloud,” the first track from the album, today via Metal Sucks, and not surprisingly, it rips. The progressive death metal that marked their first album is still there, as are some clean vocals and of course other moments of extreme heaviness. It’s a great way to introduce us to some new music from the band, and we’re definitely looking forward to hearing what the rest of the album sounds like.

Selves We Cannot Forgive will be released on eOne on July 22nd, and you can preorder it here or here.
