Screen Shot 2016-01-07 at 9.53.23 AMWe’ve been writing about Rob Zombie’s forthcoming 31 film for a while now. It’s been in the works for over a year now, and the trailer garnered plenty of attention when it was released last May. The crowd-funded film will make it’s official debut at the Sundance Film Festival later this month, but it almost did so with an NC-17 rating. Zombie was forced to edit the film three times to avoid getting that rating, which it initially garnered for “sadistic graphic violence, bizarre sexuality/nudity, pervasive disturbing images and some strong language.” The problem with an NC-17 film is that many theater chains won’t show one, meaning that Zombie had to trim it back to get it to an ‘R’ rating. Although he didn’t say exactly what he had to trim, the film is now R, and the director celebrated by sharing the poster for the film on his Facebook page.

If you’re a perfectly rational human being and clowns freak you out, you might want to steer clear of this one. Here’s the synopsis:

“Five friends are kidnapped on the day before Halloween and are held hostage in a terrifying place named Murder World. While trapped, they must play a violent game called 31, in which the mission is to survive 12 hours against a gang of evil clowns.”
