Bring Me the Horizon have just released the second video from their latest album, That’s The Spirit, their first since joining Columbia Records. The video is their second from the new album (“Throne” came out in July), and was directed by vocalist Oliver Sykes, with British actor Steve Oram seen throughout.
Sykes explained the meaning behind the song in a Facebook post this past October:
“True Friends’ is about certain people more than others, and about a situation that really cut me up. But to be honest it applies to a lot of people that I’ve known throughout my life. I don’t hold hate or anger towards anyone. Maybe I used to, but it’s just too draining of an emotion and this song is about making peace with those situations. It’s about letting those people know that I can forget but I’ll never forgive. From here on out I’ll always keep them at arm’s length.”
With the release of That’s the Spirit the band scored their best debut ever, selling over 55,000 albums in the US in its first week. It also led to Sykes calling out Coldplay over for the similar album art.
