Born of Osiris guitarist Lee McKinney broke his foot last month while on tour, but he’s close to getting back on the road so him and his band-mates will be able to continue their tour with GWAR and Battlecross.
The band gave an update on McKinney’s condition after a recent cancellation in Chicago:
“(Lee McKinney) has been medically cleared to leave again on the 15th after his last important doctor’s operation that will finally have him in a hard cast, and able to hit the road again.”
As to the extent of McKinney’s injury? It was serious enough to keep him from pulling a Dave Grohl, who continued a show for a short while after breaking his leg during a Foo Fighters concert.
Said the band via Facebook:
“This was a very complex multiple fracture situation so as much as I would have love to have thrown a cast on it and continued tour I am not able. Healing is number one priority, jumping back into the unpredictable life of touring could lead to long term even permanent damage.”
Getting back on the road will mean they’ll catch the last seven dates of the ongoing GWAR and Battlecross tour. The new Born of Osiris album Soul Sphere just debuted at #38 last week, selling 6,800 copies in its first week.
