Having lost half his band less than a year ago, Mustaine and company are officially back. After some mysterious audio teasers, Megadeth finally reveal “Fatal Illusion,” their first new song since their 2013 album Super Collider. It’s the first new music with new guitarist Kiko Loureiro and drummer Chris Adler, both of whom replaced guitarist Chris Broderick and Shawn Drover respectively.

Said Mustaine on the upcoming 15th album:

“Unlike a lot of other rock and metal bands that, you know, they rely on a set formula, I try and make the songs all different. The funny thing, though, was that when Ellefson was doing the bass tracks I was telling him, “This is the ‘Tornado’ [‘Tornado of Souls’] part,” “This is the ‘Bad Omen’ part,” “This is the ‘Black Friday’ part,” “This is the ‘Holy Wars’ part.” Because a lot of the things were in that kind of vein. Now, is it going back in time? Hell, I don’t know. But I like what I’m hearing.”

It’s got a sweet David Ellefson bass break, so what’s not to love? “Fatal Illusion” clocks in a just a shade over four minutes, and we know this is track two from when Mustaine revealed the track listing, but the unnamed album still doesn’t have a release date. Given everything that’s taken place since last November, imagine if it came out next month?

UPDATE: Since the song’s premiere, it’s being reported that Megadeth’s 15th studio album will be titled Dystopia and will be released on January 22, 2016 via UMe. It also appears that the album’s cover artwork may have leaked online as well.
