Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.
For the second week in a row we have a metal album in the number one spot. In addition, it’s the second week have a case of “newer band out-charts legend band.” And, yet again, it’s the second week we have Five Finger Death Punch in the top five. Please, hold in your shock and awe. In all seriousness, the past couple of weeks have proven strong for metal record sales, and this week’s edition of Metal By Numbers shows that continuing trend. Also, as a note, this is going off of the actual album sales, not the track-equivalent and streaming chart, which puts The Weeknd at #1 for the third week in a row.
Notable Debuts:
Bring Me The Horizon, That’s The Spirit (Columbia) #1, 55,175 sold
The band’s fifth album is their highest charting yet, more than doubling the 27,000 Sempiternal sold.
Slayer, Repentless (Nuclear Blast) #2, 48,650 sold
Slayer return with the highest charting album of their career.
Hollywood Vampires, Hollywood Vampires (UMe) #22, 8,850 sold
This rock supergroup was formed by Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, and Joe Perry.
Scorpions, Return To Forever (RCA) #33, 6,600 sold
The band’s first album in five years does well, though not quite as well as its predecessor. But that’s to be expected since Sting in the Tail was originally going to be their last album.
Foo Fighters, Songs From The Laundry Room (RCA) #191, 1,200 sold
This is an EP originally released on Record Store Day.

Five Finger Death Punch, Got Your Six (Prospect Park) #5, 32,150 sold
Not surprisingly, this is still in the top five even after a 72% drop.
Iron Maiden, The Book of Souls (BMG) #10, 18,850 sold
Maiden stay in the top 10 after a 74% drop.
Disturbed, Immortalized (Reprise) #19, 9,700 sold
A 38% drop, but it’s still in the top 20 after 4 weeks.
Kid Rock, First Kiss (Warner Bros.) #47, 5,000 sold
Boosted (again) into the top 50.
Lamb of God, VII: Sturm Und Drang (Epic) #103, 2,250 sold
Over 80,000 sold, which, if it keep selling at this pace, might be one of the best-selling albums of 2015.
Bullet For My Valentine, Venom (RCA) #113, 2,125 sold
A 33% drop.
Halestorm, Into the Wild Life (Atlantic) #144, 1,575 sold
Another boost of 10%.
Hollywood Undead, Day of the Dead (Interscope) #145, 1,575 sold
The band’s current tour boosts this way back up and onto the charts.
Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats, The Night Creeper (Rise Above) #148, 1,500 sold
A not too terrible 57% drop in week 2.
Foo Fighters, Sonic Highways (RCA) #167, 1,325 sold
With over 490,000 s0lid, the gold isn’t so far away.
Slipknot, .5: The Gray Chapter (Roadrunner) #175, 1,275 sold
We should expect some boosts when Knotfest happens in about a month.

A tiny drop of 6%.
