Traditional news outlets are still reporting about Ashley Madison, the adultery website that recently suffered a data breach by some anonymous hackers who posted every registered user’s information. Josh Duggar, a former cast member of the reality show 19 Kids and Counting was among those users and we recently found that he may have tried to get girls by pretending to be a Hatebreed fan, but now, we found out the hackers were big AC/DC fans.
During a press conference in Canada, attending journalists were given several documents regarding the incident, including a sheet with the lyrics of AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck.” They later found out employees of Avid Life Media, the parent company that owns Ashley Madison, realized about the hacking after they opened their laptops and the AC/DC song started playing along with the message to shut down the website.
The lyrics refers to finding yourself “caught in the middle of a railroad track” after a long night of partying with “dancers who gave a good time” in Texas and then goes into chorus repeating several times “You’ve been Thunderstruck,” which makes perfect sense as a message from the hackers to the company.
Avid Life Media is offering a $500,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the hacking group who calls itself “The Impact Team” for compromising the personal data of over 33 million users who, in some cases, have been victims of extortion and even linked to the suicide of two individuals, according to a Canadian police report.
