Sometimes things happen that are inexplicable. Just moments after running a story about Disturbed frontman David Draiman doing Chipmunk-style vocal warmup of “Immortalized,” A story on the AV Club about the Alvin & the Chipmunks film series led us down a rabbit hole. Thinking about the ridiculousness of the 1980 Chipmunk Punk album that went gold, we looked at the track listing and realized that Billy Joel, Blondie and the Cars aren’t “punk” at all.
Apparently, we’re not the only people that thought that, as longtime Los Angeles comedy/punk band The Radioactive Chicken Heads decided to do a Chipmunked out version of Suicidal Tendencies’ 1983 classic “Institutionalized.” Dangerous Minds found it almost two years ago, we found it earlier today, and we haven’t stopped laughing yet, imagining Alvin as someone that’s mentally unbalanced enough to have Dave get him committed to an insane asylum.
