Good news! Protest the Hero have released their first album update, or ‘pupdate’, as they like to call it, giving fans a glimpse into their much anticipated fourth album. Of course, the buzz about this album is that it is the product of their extremely successful crowdfunding campaign. Oh, and drum duties are being handled by none other than Chris Adler of Lamb of God. However, this update focuses on the vocals. In addition the usual tomfoolery the band usually includes in their album update videos (vocalist Rody Walker attempting to talk through a speech jammer is especially amusing), some snippets of guitar parts can be heard, but for the most part, the update focuses on Rody recording vocals. There is a soft acoustic part, but the most interesting component is at the end of the video, where Rody can be heard  laying down some pretty brutal growls, which were mostly absent from their last album, Scurrilous. Also, guest vocalist Jadea Kelly makes a return appearance after singing on their first album Kezia and the track “Hair Trigger” from Scurrilous. All in all, this one seems like it’s going to be a pretty varied album vocally.

Updates for guitars, bass, and drums are still to come, but so far, it seems that Protest will not disappoint fans, especially those who gave them money to make this album. Album details such as the name or release date have not been released yet, but we do know that they will be releasing it through a variety of record labels for distribution purposes. Stay tuned for further ‘pupdates’.
