It’s been over ten years since Alice in Chains singer Layne Stanley died of a drug overdose. But his memory is not lost, and his father Phil Staley stopped in and appeared briefly onstage during AIC’s set at Fox Fest in Burnaby, BC on July 1st. His appearance was met with roaring approval from fans. After his 15 seconds in the spotlight, the band dedicated the next song in their set “Nutshell” to Layne and fallen bassist Mike Starr.

It’s interesting that father Phil Staley still supports and is on good terms with the band, seeing as Layne’s mother Nancy McCallum recently sued the band, claiming that they owe her money (Layne’s parents divorced when he was seven). The band posted a photo of Phil onstage with the band on their Instagram.
