It ain’t easy being Johan Hegg. First of all, there’s gotta be a lot of beard upkeep happening, but as the frontman of Amon Amarth, he also has to maintain his voice. While on tour with opening act Huntress in Plymouth, England, Hegg blew out his voice, and was unable to sing for the set. Thankfully, the band came up with a plan and decided to press on.

Huntress’ Jill Janus was able to do her part to assure that the show continued. Amon Amarth played a primarily instrumental set, with Janus appearing as somewhat of an MC for the band’s set. She also sang on “Guardians of Asgaard.” The band invited fans up to perform “Twilight of the Thunder God” and “The Pursuit of Vikings,” with Hegg joining the band with his Thor hammer, mouthing the words as the fans sang them.
