Tragedy has struck again and we’re sad to report that Cave In bassist Caleb Scofield has passed away at 39. Unionleader reported the news that he, who also played in Old Man Gloom and Zozobra, died yesterday (28th) afternoon when his truck burst into flames after crashing at high speed into the Bedford toll plaza. According to the report, police stated the truck was traveling north on the F.E. Everett Turnpike shortly after 1PM when he attempted to change lanes before entering the toll plaza and ended up crashing into the barrier.
While it’s difficult to digest this news, a youcaring account has been created to help with his funeral expenses.
The site states:
“Caleb Scofield was in a severe truck crash on March 28th and passed away. His wife Jen and two sweet children, Sydney (7) and Desmond (10) are trying to adjust to life without him. Support of friends and family will help with the funeral expenses. In addition to being an amazing dad and partner Caleb was an accomplished musician with a career spanning two decades. His bands Cave In and Old Man Gloom brought together many wonderful musicians, friends, fans and community. His loss will be felt felt far and wide, most deeply by his wife and children.”
We send our condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.
Incredibly sad to hear that Caleb Scofield of Cave In, Old Man Gloom and Zozobra has died. A brilliant bassist and part of some of the greatest music I’ve ever heard. Rest in power.
