peter adams samhainEarlier this month, Glenn Danzig announced that his post-Misfits/pre-solo band Samhain would play a handful of shows this fall, in addition to sets at Riot Fest Chicago and Philip Anselmo’s Housecore Horror Film Fest. It was assumed that longtime members London May and Steve Zing would be part of the shows given that they also partook in Samhain sets during Danzig’s multiple “Legacy” tours. However, we now know that Peter Adams of Baroness will be handling guitar duties for Samhain’s upcoming shows.

The Danzig camp announced this past weekend that Adams (also of Valkyrie) will be the “Special Guest Guitarist” for Samhain’s upcoming shows. Adams shared the following statement about playing with Samhain:

“I’m truly excited. It’s a great honor to share the stage with Samhain on the 30th Anniversary of Initium! Samhain has helped shape how I’ve played music, and the music I’ve listened to, since I was a teenager and will continue to, on into the future. To be a part of this Legacy is Great Beyond Words!”

Formed in 1983, Samhain certainly had a rotating lineup of musicians before disbanding in 1987 (and eventually transforming into Danzig). Although some may be disappointed Danzig couldn’t tap a guitarist who actually played in Samhain, it’s still pretty awesome that we’ll get to see a guitarist like Peter Adams onstage with them. And if we’re to read deeper into Adams’ statement, it seems like Samhain will be performing Initium in its entirety at each show (though so far that’s only confirmed for Riot Fest).
