We here at Metal Insider HQ were sad when Gojira and The Devin Townsend Project’s show at New York’s Irving Plaza got postponed at the last minute due to the snow storm. However, after seeing the tour’s rescheduled NYC date this past Tuesday (February 19), we can honestly say it was well worth the wait.
The night was killer from start to finish, with The Atlas Moth’s psychedelic sludge metal the perfect way to kick things off. Townsend was in full zany self, not only storming through a heavy set of fan-favorites, but also getting the jam-packed floor to do jazz hands with him during “Lucky Animals.” But it was Gojira’s mind-blowing, high-energy performance that was the highlight of the entire evening. Fortunately for those who couldn’t make it to the sold out show, photographer Derek Soto from Sinestra Studios was on hand documenting the entire night. Check out photos from each band’s set in the gallery after the jump.
