While we love Judas Priest, normally we wouldn’t get too excited over another greatest hits package from the metal gods. They’ve already officially released five compilation albums or packages since 1993. So what makes their sixth compilation The Chosen Few so special? Well this time around, the hits are chosen (see what they did there?) by some of metal’s elite.
Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica’s James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, Lemmy Kilmister, Slipknot/Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor, Slayer’s Kerry King and Slash are just a few of the big names who were asked to hand-pick their favorite Priest song for The Chosen Few. In addition, the compilation will include an explanation from each artist about their choices. Thanks to Priest’s famous friends and peers, The Chosen Few features a lot of deeper cuts, like “Dissident Aggressor,” “Delivering The Goods,” “Grinder” and lots more. Although one might be surprised that no one chose “The Hellion/Electric Eye.”
The compilation will come out on October 11 via Sony/Legacy, just in time for Priest’s North American Epitaph tour. The track listing for The Chosen Few, along with the musicians or band the song was chosen by, can be seen after the jump.
