Three members of the ultramega grunge band Soundgarden Joined alternative, country rock artist Brandi Carlile on stage Saturday, August 14th. Guitarist Kim Thayil, bassist Ben Shepherd and drummer Matt Cameron came together with Carlile at The Gorge Amphitheatre in George, WA and covered Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” and “Searching With My Good Eye Closed.” Watch this happen below.

You can find the recorded versions of these covers on Carlile’s 12″ vinyl “A Rooster Says,” and on streaming services. Carlile previously performed “Black Hole Sun” live with Soundgarden’s surviving members during a tribute concert to the late Chris Cornell, Soundgarden’s iconic vocalist. Cornell took his life on May 18, 2017, leaving a tremendous void in modern rock music that can never be filled.

Metallica have released their live tribute to Cornell on vinyl, which includes the Soundgarden covers the group performed during the, I Am The Highway: A Tribute To Chris Cornell, concert that took place at The Forum in Los Angeles in January 2019.
