What the hell is Metal McDonald? There’s already a McDonald’s-themed metal band. It makes a lot more sense when you realize that it’s a play on Doobie Brothers singer Michael McDonald. Metal versions of Doobie Brothers songs with one of the most recognizable voices of the ’70s, ’80s and today? Yeah, kind of, but here they take on Iron Maiden’s “Run to the Hills” and very lightly mash it up with the Doobies'”It Keeps You Running.” It’s obvious that this is an Atlanta-area thing, as the video for “It Keeps You Running (To the Hills)” is chock full of local acts, like Mastodon’s Brent Hinds, former Torche member Juan Montoya and Biters appear in the clip, which is ridiculous and over the top. Is there a sax solo? Sure is. Much like Mac Sabbath, a whole album or set by Metal McDonald probably would run really thin after a few songs, but it turns out this video is perfect.
