Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett butchered the intro to their classic 1991 black album track, “Nothing Else Matters,” during their headlining set on Sunday (29th) at the Boston Calling festival in Allston, Massachusetts. The mishap took place shortly after Hammett teased the classic Boston track, “More Than A Feeling,” when he moved into slaughtering the intro to the song where he jokingly fell to the floor. After picking himself back up, Hammett spoke to the crowd, stating:

“Sorry, guys. You’re so kickass. I got distracted by how kickass you are.”

The guitarist restarted the intro and finished their set. Metallica have been notoriously closing their Encore set with “Nothing Else Matters,” followed by “Enter Sandman,” for quite a few years. Perhaps this is a sign that they need to change up their closing encore tracks?
