The music world is still reeling from the untimely passing of Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell last week. Of all the Seattle bands that were part of the “grunge’ movement, Cornell’s amazing voice singled him out as technically the best vocalist of the bunch, and at only 52, he seemingly had a whole lot of music left in him. As such a great vocalist, that’s why it’s perhaps so moving to see Choir! Choir! Choir! sing “Black Hole Sun.”
The group, numbering 225 men and women, recorded their tribute to Cornell live on May 23rd in Toronto. Of all the covers and tributes that have been made to the singer, this is perhaps the most emotional one we’ve heard.
