Back in June, we were surprised to hear of the unlikely collaboration between Marilyn Manson and actor Shia LaBeouf. At the time, the Transformer star revealed that he was working on a documentary chronicling the making of Manson’s new album. Though we assume the documentary is still happening, we’ve now received our first taste of what to expect from Manson’s new album and his collaboration with LaBeouf via a new video for the song “Born Villain.”
The music video directed by LaBeouf, which is being referred to as a “short film,” has made its way online and, well…it’s freaky to say the least. Call us crazy, but seeing Manson shaving the heads of two middle aged women, baptizing/water boarding another nude girl, and surgically placing an eye ball in a woman’s vagina is a bit too much even for us. And to top it all off, the video’s director use to be a Disney star. We’d like to give you our thoughts on the new song itself (our first real taste of new Manson music), but we’re still trying to grasp the video.
So go ahead and watch the video for “Born Villain” above for yourself, if you dare. In case you want to learn more about how this weird duo came to meet, read MTV‘s interview with LaBeouf, where he refers to Manson as an “indelible figure.”
If you just so happen to be in LA and want to watch the film on a big screen with its star and director (and maybe a few of the extras), then you’re in luck. Manson and LaBeouf will be making a joint appearance at a private book signing and screening tonight (September 1) at Hennessey + Ingalls bookstore in LA from 8-10pm. This event is 18 and up and limited to 150 attendees on a first come first serve basis. The only way to receive tickets to this event is by purchasing a special photo book/DVD combo of “Born Villain” via Hennessey + Ingalls’ online store.
