Grungy alt-metal rockers L7 played a secret show at Jesse Malin’s club Berlin in NYC’s East Village late Friday night to celebrate the world premiere of their new documentary L7: Pretend We’re Dead at documentary film festival DOCNYC, attended by the band, Joan Jett, members of the Lunachicks and film team. Rocking a short set for a packed crowd of friends and screening attendees who were lucky enough to hear the off-mic show announcement at the end of the Q&A, L7 were in good spirits as they blazed through hits including “Shove,” “Shitlist,” “Andres,” “Everglade” and “Fast and Frightening” (but not “Pretend We’re Dead”). It was quite a treat to see them at such an intimate venue. Here’s some video evidence:
No further film screenings or release plans have been announced yet, but L7 is bringing the party to Los Angeles for two hometown shows: November 20 at The Troubadour (sold out) and November 21 at Echoplex (tickets here).
L7: Pretend We’re Dead is directed by Sarah Price (American Movie, The Yes Men) and produced by Blue Hats Creative. Pics from the DOCNYC premiere are here. Watch the film trailer:
