Former Megadeth guitarist Kiko Loureiro discussed his departure on the Amplifica podcast, hosted by his former Angra bandmate Rafael Bittencourt, citing his need for freedom as the main reason. While the guitarist revealed other reasons at home ultimately led to the decision, Loureiro didn’t disclose any further details on the matter. Instead, he emphasized valuing choices in life and prioritizing family, reflecting on past instances like almost missing his daughter’s birth. Loureiro openly discussed his exit with Dave Mustaine in June, resulting in being responsible for finding his replacement and actively participating in ultimately finding Teemu Mäntysaari (Wintersun). Loureiro recently announced his extended absence from Megadeth’s touring cycle earlier this month, which Mustaine chimed in soon after, announcing Teemu will continue to perform with the band.
