We saw Godsmack’s video trailer for the song “Bulletproof” last week, and well, we weren’t quite sure what to make of it. For one, it was a trailer for a music video. The music video in and of itself is almost an antiquated notion from back in the days when labels would think nothing of dropping a couple hundred thousand on a video for a developing act. But the band were, well, funny in the video trailer. Frontman Sully Erna co-wrote the video, which at first features a variety of cameos from the likes of Sebastian Bach and Billy Ray Cyrus pitching concepts. Then his “cousin” steps in to direct the video and a comedy of errors occurs. The whole video is about 10 minutes long, and while there are a few stereotypes in it, it’s kind of done tongue-in-cheek. The end result isn’t laugh-out-loud hysterical, but it’s enough to make the song, which really isn’t that bad, sound even better, and Godsmack are to be commended for making this, perhaps the most entertaining video they’ve ever made.
