Family joins the Prosthetic family

familybandWe’ve been fans of Brooklyn’s Family since before their debut album, Portrait, came out in 2012. The band’s heavy and progressive, musically a bit like old-school Mastodon or Baroness musically but with some straight-ahead classic rock riffage thrown into the metal progginess. They’ve been touring and working on their sophomore album since 2012, and now not only is it done, but they’re releasing it on their new label, Prosthetic Records.

Future History will be released on the label this Summer, and in preparation for that, they’ll be playing a hometown show this coming Tuesday (29) at Webster Hall with Intronaut, Scale the Summit and their new labelmates North. You can stream Portrait on their website, but the band also made a trailer for the new album, in which you see members of Tiger Flowers and Primitive Weapons doing some gang vocals and Family being Family. So watch the trailer, listen to their last album, and get psyched.
