Avenged Sevenfold are no strangers to video games, especially the Call of Duty: Black Ops series. “Welcome to the Family” was premiered via a video with footage from the first game back in 2010. And not only did the band have a new song premiere as part of Black Ops II‘s DLC, they also appeared in the initial game. So it makes perfect sense that they contributed music to the score of the latest incarnation of the game, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, which was released last week. The composition, “Jade Helm,” is about five minutes of music that will be heard throughout the game. Here’s what the band had to say about it:
“We are proud to announce our involvement in ‘Black Ops 3.’ Treyarch asked us if we would like to create a score to accompany a portion of the multiplayer soundtrack and we gladly accepted. On November 6th you can pick up a copy of the game and check out our instrumental score entitled ‘Jade Helm’ while you play Multiplayer or in your personal bunk inside the Safe House of the Campaign.”
No word on whether the drummer on the material was Brooks Wackerman, but we’re assuming it’s probably Arin Ilejay’s last work with the band.
