Swedish doom and hard rock outfit Avatarium will release their new album, Between You, God, the Devil and The Dead, early next year, on January 24, 2025, via AFM Records. Promising to showcase their signature dark, melancholic sound, the group has unveiled a lyric video for the album’s first single, “Long Black Waves.”

Founded by Candlemass icon Leif Edling, Avatarium have released two EPs, four albums, and a live DVD. Despite Edling’s departure, the band continues with vocalist Jennie-Ann Smith.

The album was produced and mixed by Marcus Jidell and mastered by Svante Forsbäck, with artwork by Erik Rovanpera.

Guitarist Marcus Jidell comments:

“The first song is a heavy, doomy dark gospel named “Long Black Waves”. It’s a homage to bands like Led Zeppelin, Mountain and Black Sabbath. And as always we try to find our own twist on things to get the good ol’ Avatarium vibe going. Enjoy!”

He adds:

“18 months ago we decided to make another album and now it’s (finally) written, recorded and mixed! At one point I thought we would never be able to finish it but here we are now! This album has the doom, the old school heavy metal riffs, the acoustic numbers and the classic dark gospel of Avatarium. I am very proud of what we have achieved and if this is our last album, we’ll definitely end with a bang!”
