I’ve been absolutely jonesing for some new Astronoid tunes since the debut of the title track from their upcoming album, Air (out June 10 via Blood Music). Today, we’re treated to another taste (courtesy Metal Injection) of the band’s dreamy speed metal with the track “Up and Atom.”

Hearing this reaffirms my belief that Air is going to be a perfect summertime album. It’s bright, energetic, catchy, and puts my head in the clouds. Simply put, they make it easy to get lost in the shred; there’s something about their hyper pace and effervescent nature that seems to distort time.

I can see it now: It’s a cloudless eighty-plus outside and I’m in my car with the windows rolled down, blasting this until the gravity of reaching my destination hits. I can already tell I’m going to want to take a few spins around the block or add a couple detours to my route to get some more time in with this one.
