With only 41 days left until the Finnish prog metal act Amorphis releases their 12th studio album, Under the Red Cloud, they have released their third trailer for the album. This trailer features vocalist Tomi Joutsen speaking from Stockhold, Sweden about the recording process of the album.

“With this record, we had first time pre-production for the vocals also and that was something completely new thing for me.”

“It’s been nice to work here, long days. Jens is really hard working me. We [have] been working 10 or 12 hour per days, but still I can hear that the songs are really powerful, and it will be a really interesting album. It’s gonna be definitely a new style of Amorphis in a way. Of course you can hear it’s Amorphis, but we have some new tricks. It’s gonna be a really dynamic album also, a couple of new elements, and as a singer I think it’s gonna be a little bit heavier maybe. There’s gonna be lots of growls, of course, and some really girly stuff also.”

It also features the same teaser of a song that the first two have. They haven’t revealed which song it is, we only really know that it is not their first single “Death of a King.” Under the Red Cloud is set for release on September 4th, via Nuclear Blast Records, and it’s finally available for pre-order in the US in a variety of bundles including the CD, T-shirts, and bright red colored vinyls that would be great for my collection.

Guitarist Esa Holopainen:

“The album is titled ‘Under The Red Cloud’ and the artwork is done by Valnoir Mortasonge. Valnoir is well known from his works for Laibach, Paradise Lost, Watain, Behemoth and many more. It was a great pleasure to work with him as he [captured] the lyrical topics really well. Colors and details describe the music perfectly.”

“Under The Red Cloud’ is produced by Jens Bogren, who did amazing job with the album. There’s a lot’s of elements in the songs but every note and element is in perfect harmony so that the result is fucking heavy and melodic. All I can say is that ‘Under The Red Cloud’ will be in my personal Top 3 Amorphis albums that we’ve ever done.”
